Our Sincerest Apologies for Continued Delays - Project Update #8
over 6 years ago
– Sat, Apr 28, 2018 at 01:35:59 PM
We regret to inform all of our backers and supporters than we still have no fixed date for the release of Sakura Sakura and will need to push it back later than April. Simply put, we vastly underestimated the time it would take to increase the resolution of a game this size. Backgrounds and standard images went fine, but we hit a bit of a wall when we got to the sprites. Sakura alone has 2682 different files for her sprites. Since they’re all animated, it takes a lot of work to not only increase the resolution of each image but also to make sure they’re all working correctly as a unit.
Fortunately, our upscaling and image editing work is pretty much complete at this point, though yet again, inserting these images into the game is going to take a lot of work. It’s for that reason that we don’t want to set a release date at this time.
We extend our sincerest apologies to everyone and promise that we’re working hard to avoid such missteps in the future. As such, we have brought on additional industry veteran project managers to take over and manage this project and get a fundamental grasp on our issues.
Please note, that all other projects are currently on schedule. However, we will be transferring all currently ongoing projects except one (Newton and the Apple Tree) to our new project managers.

Welcome to another Sakura Sakura project update. I know this is a recurring theme by now, but I’d like to apologize again for the continued delays. In better news, image editing has been coming along swimmingly. We’d like to extend a massive thanks to Haerts, Steph, and Mttblue2 for coming through for us when complications arose.
In case you missed it, we made a massive announcement this week, which you can read on the blog at our new website HERE.
Additionally, we’re running a AMA on r/LightNovels right now! If you see this post as it goes up, come along to THIS LINK and ask us whatever you’d like!
Thanks once again for bearing with us through this all.

Release Delayed Until April, Beta Early Next Month - Project Update #7
over 6 years ago
– Sun, Mar 25, 2018 at 07:57:41 PM
Hello all, it’s time for another Sakura Sakura Kickstarter update. First of all we have some bad news. The release of Sakura Sakura is going to have to be pushed back to next month. Likewise, the beta we planned will have to start early next month as well.
The reasoning for this is simple and lies entirely on us: we just didn’t anticipate the amount of work that would be required to make an English version of the game we can all be proud of. All that remains is several images to edit, and the upresing of backgrounds and misc images.
What this does mean is that all CGs and character sprites have been upresed (which was no easy feat considering the number of moving parts this game has!), and that the actual text editing has finished.
Once again we apologize for the delays, but we’re confident that the finished product will be worth the wait.

Whew, after a seemingly infinite number of files, images, and other miscellaneous things, editing for Sakura Sakura is finally complete!
As much as I’m glad to see another step of the process finished, I’m pretty sad to be done with this one since it was a lot of fun. All the characters were so cute and funny and quirky that I almost wish I could keep going. Oh well, all good things must come to an end, and I can’t wait for this to finally release so you can all play it and enjoy it as much as I have.
Look forward to the beta release that’s coming soon!

I want to personally apologize for the amount of delays that Sakura Sakura has received. We have run into several roadblocks which have stalled development and are keeping all of these in mind as we plan future releases.
One of our key goals at Sol Press is to be as transparent as possible with the community. We’ve taken the first step by releasing weekly progress reports for each publicly announced game, and we plan on doing this for all future titles as well.
Sakura Sakura is going to be our very first product released, and there’s no question that it will set the reputation for our company moving forward. Because of this, we’re trying to move as quickly as possible while keeping quality control at the very forefront of our mind.
I sincerely appreciate everyone's patience, and I promise that we’re doing everything in our power to create a quality product that you all will enjoy.

Closed Beta Pre-Registration Open - Project Update #6

– Sun, Mar 18, 2018 at 08:22:29 PM
Hi all! Only a brief update this week. Editing, image editing, and image upscaling are all almost complete. We’re hoping to have them done by this Saturday. After that, we’ll be getting QA done as quickly as we can without rushing, and we hope to have the beta in your hands very soon!
Once again, we apologize for the delays and look forward to sharing what steps we’ve taken to improve this after we’ve held our internal review at the end of the project.

Not much to share on my end this week, just trying to finish everything up. Barring any more issues like my computer dying on me, it should be done fairly soon!
